Course Description:
To understand general English and be able to communicate one’s thoughts and feelings in English, in different situations.
Indicators:
Strand 1: Language for communication
1.1 Act in compliance with the orders and simple requests heard or read.
1.2 Pronounce and spell words; accurately read aloud groups of words, sentences and simple chants by observing the principles of reading.
1.3 Choose/specify the images or symbols corresponding to the meanings of groups of words and sentences heard.
1.4 Answer questions from listening to or reading dialogueor simple tales.
1.5 Speak in an exchange with short and simple words in interpersonal communication by following the models heard.
1.6 Use orders and simple requests by following the models heard.
1.7 Express their own simple needs by following the models heard.
1.8 Speak to ask for and give simple data about themselves by following the models heard.
Strand 2: Communication.
2.1 Speak/write to give data about themselves and matters around them.
2.2 Categorize words into groups according to the types of persons, animals and objects based on what they have heard or read.
Strand 3: Language and Culture.
3.1 Speak and make accompanying gestures in accordance with social manners/culture of native speakers. .
3.2 Tell the names and simple vocabulary about festivals/ important days / celebrations and lifestyles of native speakers.
3.3 Participate in language and cultural activities appropriate to their age levels.
3.4 Tell differences of the sounds of the alphabet, words, groups of words and simple sentences in foreign languages and Thai language.

Evaluation/ grading system:
Students are evaluated by varies means classrooms tests, final tests. Classroom work in student book, skills book and workbook. They are also evaluated from homework and supplementary materials. Students’ attitude to learning will also affect their grades.
The students will get a total of 100 points for the year. The points are split in two with 50 points for each term. 80 of these points are for work done in the class and at home. The final 20 points are for the mid term test and then final test (10 points for each test).

75 – 79 grade 3.5
70 – 74 grade 3
65 – 69 grade 2.5
60 – 64 grade 2
55 – 59 grade 1.5
