Course Description:
• Know and understand about shapes, forms and distinguish visual elements of various things in nature, the environment and works visual art; have basic skills in using materials and instruments in creating paintings in colour by using lines, shapes, forms, colours and surfaces; are able to create collages, sculptures and simple mobiles; convey thoughts and feelings from stories, incidents and real life; create works of arts in accord with their predilection; are able to show reasons and methods for improving their own work
• Know and understand the importance of works of visual art in daily life, sources of works of visual art in the local area as well as know how to use materials, instruments and methods of creating works of visual art in the local area

Unit 1 See With an Artist’s Eyes
Lesson 1 Sketches: Understand that artists think carefully about their subject before they make an artwork. Make a sketch.
Lesson 2 Shapes and Colors: Recognize that artists use colors and shapes to express themselves. Make a torn paper picture.
Lesson 3 Shape Prints: Recognize that artists sometimes show that ordinary things have artistic value. Make a shape print.
Lesson 4 See and Touch: Recognize that artists make artwork they like to see and touch. Use paper to construct an artwork.
Lesson 5 Making Dark Colors: Recognize that one way artists experiment with colors is to mix in black to darken them. Finger-paint a night sky.

Lesson 3 Puppet Pet: Recognize that artists use art to show the natural beauty of animals. Make a cup puppet.

Lesson 5 Building Models: Recognize that artists portray memories of people and places. Make constructions of buildings or vehicles.
Lesson 6 Pictures to Touch: Recognize that artists use different textures and materials to create models. Make a desert picture.

Materials used to achieve indicators:
Art prints, photographs, variety of drawing and painting utensils, everyday objects, fabrics, construction materials made of wood, wooden tools such as tooth picks, ice cream sticks, craft sticks, scissors, paper towels, paper cups, water and latex glue, assortment of vegetables, shallow containers, plastic foam, paper plates, cardboard boxes, lids, sketchbooks, colored yarn, plastic knives and spoons, magazine, liquid starch, nature items with different textures, clothing catalogs, classroom objects that can produce interesting prints, tape, foil, different kinds of drawing, construction and painting paper

Evaluation and grading system:

The students will get a total of 100 points for the year. The points are split in two with 50 points for each term. 80 of these points are for work done in the class. 10 points each per term are reserved in a work where techniques and processes are implemented, learnt throughout the semester.

Lesson 1 Forbidden: Understand that artists criticize social behavior often in a humoristic way. Draw a picture, showing your favorite activity that is now forbidden.
Lesson 2 Wild Faces: Recognize that artists create work to show people’s emotions. Draw faces in black, gray and white that show negative feelings.
Lesson 3 Sign Language: recognize that artists create signs and symbols everywhere. Use familiar shapes instead of letters to create your favorite English word.

Unit 2 World in 3D
Lesson 1 The Qube: Recognize that artists use objects in their artwork that are shown in three dimensions. Learn to draw a die in parallel perspective.
Lesson 2 Amazing Letters: Recognize that artists sometimes use words in their artwork. To make them more interesting, they use letters in special designs. Design 3D-letter-word.
Lesson 3 3D Settlement: Recognize that artists like to create artwork showing the place where they live. To show as many details as possible, they use 3D-techniques. Draw a settlement, using parallel perspective.
Lesson 4 Still Lifes: Recognize that Artists may call special attention to certain objects by painting them in a still life. Paint a still life of toys.
Lesson 5 My Room: When Vincent van Gogh was young; he liked to paint his room. He used amazing center-point-perspective to show many details. Paint your room or the room in your dreams using center-point-perspective.
Lesson 6 Paper City: Recognize that the design of an important building may be an expression of feelings and beliefs. Design and construct a model building.

Materials used to achieve indicators:
Art prints, photographs, variety of drawing and painting utensils, everyday objects, fabrics, construction materials made of wood, wooden tools such as tooth picks, ice cream sticks, craft sticks, scissors, paper towels, paper cups, water and latex glue, assortment of vegetables, shallow containers, plastic foam, paper plates, cardboard boxes, lids, sketchbooks, colored yarn, plastic knives and spoons, magazine, liquid starch, nature items with different textures, clothing catalogs, classroom objects that can produce interesting prints, tape, foil, different kinds of drawing, construction and painting paper

The students will get a total of 100 points for the year. The points are split in two with 50 points for each term. 80 of these points are for work done in the class. 10 points each per term are reserved in a work where techniques and processes are implemented, learnt throughout the semester.
