Course Description:

To understand English vocabulary that is used when doing math. Students should be able to add, subtract, and know about shapes, length and Mass.

Indicators:
Strand 1: Numbers and Operations
1.1 Understand diverse methods of presenting numbers and their application in real life.
1.2 Understand results of operations of numbers, relationships of operations, and application of operations for problem - solving.
Strand 2: Measurments
2.1 Understand the basics of measurement; ability to measure and estimate the size of
objects to be measured .
Strand 3: Geometry
3.1 Ability to explain and analyses two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures.
3.2 Ability for visualization, spatial reasoning and application of geometric models for problem-solving.
Strand 4: Algebra
4.1 Understanding and ability to analyses pattern, relation and function.
Strand 5: Data Analysis and Probability
Not required for level 1
Strand 6: Mathematical Skills and Processes
6.1 Capacity for problem-solving, reasoning and communication.

Course contents:
Unit 1 I know my numbers
Matching and counting to ten
Ordinals numbers,
Unit 2 I can add
Add up to ten.
Learning to count on.
Unit 3 I can subtract
Subtraction by comparisons
Subtracting under 10.

Unit 4 Numbers to twenty
Counting to twenty
Count down from twenty.
Tell which is greater and which is smaller.
Tell which is the greatest which is the smallest.

Unit 5 Additions and Subtraction under twenty.
Add up to twenty.
Subtraction under twenty.

Unit 6 Shapes
Knowing shapes.
Tell shapes from solids.
Tell shapes of things.
Group shapes.
See patterns in shapes.
Unit 7 Length and Mass
Compare length and height of objects.
Find the length of objects.
Compare the mass of objects.
Find the mass of object.

Activities/ Strategies:
Several strategies are used to reach the indicators. Lecture, class participation, students doing work alone and in groups.

Materials use to achieve indicators:
Mathematics in Action
Student book
Mathematics in Action Workbook part 1(A) and 1(B)

Evaluation/ grading system:
Students are evaluated by varies means classrooms tests,
final tests.
They are also evaluated from homework and supplementary materials.
Students’ attitude to learning will also affect their grades.

The students will get a total of 20 points for the year. The points are split in two with 10 points for each term. 5 of these points are for work done in the class and at home. The final 5 points are for the mid term test and then final test (5 points for each test). These points will be added to the Thai teachers score for math, which is 80 points per year.

75 – 79 grade 3.5

Course Description:

To understand general English and be able to communicate one’s thought and feeling in English, in different situation.

Indicators:
Strand 1: Language for communication
1.1 Understand what has been heard and read from various media. Be able to express opinion with reasoning.
1.2 Use language communication skills to exchange data and information, and express feelings and opinions.
1.3 Be able to present data, information, concepts and views about various matters through speaking and writing.
